The Best Hotels for Working Out

Anyone who’s been to a subpar hotel “fitness room” knows how difficult it can be to get in a good workout while traveling. Fortunately, a host of hotels have started providing clientele with fitness options that’ll make guests excited about exercise. Here, five hotel chains whose gym options are worth getting up early for.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts:
Guests who sign up as members of the free Fairmont’s President Club receive a bevy of workout-related perks from Fairmont Fit. Hotel staff will deliver Adidas workout apparel and shoes to your door, and you’ll be able to borrow an MP3 player preloaded with a variety of music. (fairmont.com)

Hilton Hotels: In addition to recently aligning themselves with Precor Fitness to upgrade their workout facilities, specific Hilton locations have also extended their fitness-related draws. The Hilton Garden Inns will supply an in-room Stay Fit Kit with a Pilates band, resistance cord, yoga mat, hand weights, and medicine ball, and the Hilton San Francisco Financial District offers downloadable MP3 workouts led by Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin. Hyatt Hotels: This chain’s fitness program—Stay Fit at Hyatt—features a dynamic selection of workouts across North America and the Caribbean. In addition to 24-hour fitness centers, they also have a 24-hour Fitness Concierge who will provide guests with running and cycling information, furnish exercise clothing for purchase for guests who left theirs at home, and lend them a GPS watch to map and monitor outdoor running or walking routes. Additionally, the Hyatt’s YogaAway program provides guests with in-room yoga instruction via their television; at select locations, a certified instructor also leads regularly scheduled courses and gives private sessions. Westin Hotels & Resorts: The WestinWORKOUT® program caters to fitness-conscious travelers. Overnighters can book a WestinWORKOUT® room, which includes state-of-the-art equipment such as a treadmill or spinning cycle, exercise DVDs, adjustable dumbbells, core training equipment, a fitness library, Runner’s World maps, and complimentary bottled water. For those who prefer to reserve a standard room and break a sweat outdoors, the staff will provide maps that outline recommended jogging and walking routes in the area. Select locations—including Calgary and San Francisco—host three-mile runs led by a Westin Hotel Running Concierge. And at 10 locations—among them New York, Kansas City, and St. Louis—the hotel has added WiiFit to their exercise rooms. (starwoodhotels.com)
