How much notice to you give before leaving?

I work in a sales role at a smaller agency. I've always heard 2 weeks notice is the standard to give an employer before leaving, but does this still apply? I represent half of the company's sales, which makes me think I should give more notice. However, I also don't want to remain in an awkward working environment for longer than necessary.

Any advice?
