I work in a small office with about 20 people. There is a coworker of mine who is sort of the bosses pet. She treats people with such a condescending attitude that most will go to great lengths to avoid having conversations with her. Everyone warned me about her when I first began working there.
For 6 months, I didn't have a problem with her until she deliberately lied to my boss about me which jeopardized my job. She made it out to be that I was bullying her and breached confidentiality (big deal as I am in the medical profession). Why she did it? Not sure. It may have had something to do with the fact that I stood up to her. Within a matter of hours my boss was breathing down my back. After this happened, several other coworkers of mine began to tell me their own horror stories with this woman. Apparently her tactic of raising her voice to draw attention, running to the boss every time someone made her upset and being nasty when confronted is very common. This just happened yesterday and I have yet to decide what to do. If there is anything that I can't stand, it's someone who is passive-aggressive and childish in the workplace. |

Is there any way to "out" her behaviour?

At least you have people on your side, which is good. Maybe you could all get together and go to someone higher up and ask them what your options are for dealing with this behavior.

It's not that I can't stand them... I'm the new girl, it's a huge.. campus.. and what's with women, many many manyyyyy women looking at you, giving you the once over, and then not acknowledging your greeting. ? Hello. I'm standing right in front of you!!! GOOD MORNING. ?? Silence. Blank stare. Deer caught in headlights, idk. It's bothersome. Two months into the job and I've actually gotten to the point that I let my mind wander and think of actually waiving my hand in their face and saying 'hello. hi, good morning.' .. I would be the weird one then.
![]() Yes, they all wear flip flop-like shoes, drab clothing and probably have never Ever said to themselves inthe morning "should I wear these pumps with this skirt or the boots?" ... I'm not a jerk. I don't care what you wear, if you're friendly, I'm friendly back. We could be great friends at some point... But the way they ALL act, I think they're all FAT COWS!

Maybe being more forceful with your 'hello' might work? Be really obvious (let others around you notice you talking to them, even if they continue to ignore you) it's amazing what peer pressure can do to help
