In case you are wondering, newblood totally came through on the harpoon to Mexico for Claire. Do not ask me how she did it. Just know that I gave her the appropriate combination of awe and pity that she deserved. Ali and I took her out for drinks last Friday and found her to be a wealth of hilarious information once tipsy.
For one thing, NB says that Claire's husband Barry is still stopping by unannounced during his daily rides (which to the uninitiated, means he shows up in the office wearing bike shorts—making it super-impossible for anyone to maintain eye contact with him). Turns out NB was also stuck with Claire's daughter Jasper for an intern this summer. In case you don't remember, I too was saddled with the rotten little Paris clone when I was Claire's EA. I stayed sane by encouraging her oh-so-sneaky habit of calling in sick 80% of the time, and by pawning her off on Naomi whenever she actually showed.
But Newblood was not so lucky. Apparently, Jasper would show up and hijack her computer for hours each day, using it to feed her nasty Twitter addiction. Which begs the question—what the hell was she twittering about? Seriously, the kidiot never does a f'n thing, so what was she posting? "I just rolled my eyes and sighed dramatically again?"
NB said she was in such shock, she couldn't even ask Jasper to log off.
She'd just suck it up and try to get work done on her Blackberry.
