I got another cool assignment from Claire today. I’m getting to help put the new look book together! It’s great ‘cause I’m learning a lot about styling. Instead of the normal black velvet backdrop, we’ve cranked up the production value to include a set, a model – the whole shebang. It’s a true fashion shoot, woohoo! The model (let’s call her Sveltlanka) is a complete sweetheart. She’s Russian and her English is not so hot, but she’s a total pro – never a hint of attitude. I should mention that even though I’m fairly thin – the model’s thigh is almost exactly the size of my forearm. Yep. Moving right along… so anyway, I was helping her change and I couldn’t help glancing at her spine, which was very knobby and protruding, and kind of Brontosaurus-y. But when I did, I could not help but notice that homegirl had the gnarliest rug burn I have personally ever laid eyes upon. It pretty much covered her entire lower back. Who the hell knows what goes on in those model apartments? I mean I’d heard they were squalid, but carpet??? In Manhattan? Oh well, at least she’s getting some good lovin, and lucky for her no one’s shooting swimsuit right now.
