Man. I feel like I haven't hung with
Ali forever and ever. I miss her so much! When you get into a new
relationship it's easy to forget how crucial girl laughs are to the
psyche. We went out last night and had the best time y'all. One thing I love
about NYC, there's no dead night out there, so going for a cocktail
mid-week doesn't automatically make you feel like a total alky street
person. I mean if I went to a bar in my hometown on a Wednesday, it'd
be me and one guy wearing overalls and no shirt. Know what I'm saying?
So anyway, we hit Waverly and had a great time, even though it was
clearly tragic tourist night. But hey, tourists have better manners
than B list celebs, which really comes in handy when it's crowded and
you have to get to the bathroom in a hurry. And anyway, we weren't
exactly trolling for dudes.
It was great to catch up. I guess Ali's relationship is still rockin, so yay. But she's actually kind of worried about work right now. I guess since she's been promoted so many times in the past few years, her salary is nice and juicy, making her a prime target for layoffs if corporate should ever ogle payroll (which I'm guessing they do nightly). So we slurringly pledged to one another to become even more indispensable at work no matter what it takes this year (pinky swear, drool, stumble, hiccup).
On a side note—there were two Englishmen buying us drinks all night.
They must have been total masochists because we 100% ignored them the
entire time. I know that sounds mean but honey, one of them looked like
he had a steak between his teeth and the other one might have been HIS
dad! Some people should just never be encouraged.
