I feel like I’ve been talking about the guys for so long I haven’t really been saying much about my career. Which is sorta the whole point of this blog—or at least it was in the beginning. Anyway, I have been racking up the little accomplishments here and there dont’cha know. Don’t think I’ve been slacking just because my hormonal drama has been clogging up the pages. My last review resulted in another teensie raise and lots of bumperstickery corporate compliments. Words like team player were thrown around. Whenever I’m spoken to in that manner I picture one of those inspirational posters (think: rock climber hanging off a crazy cliff with the caption if you can dream it you can be it!), which makes me feel really squirmy and ridiculous. The upside to cheesy work compliments (besides not being cheesy work criticisms) is that they make the perfect nuggets to share with my parents. They are the adult equivalent of report cards. Why did hearing that I’m a real “go getter” make my Mom feel like she could finally stop worrying about me? You’d think I’d just told her I bought a new rape whistle or something—she was that relieved.
