Man-oh-man, I am so antsy today! Maybe it's the impending, endless
winter. Maybe it's knowing that I'm looking at another long stretch of
long distance lovin' with my rock-n-roll boy-child. Or maybe it's the
cardboard turkey that Naomi hung on the door of her office lending just
the hint of trailer park that corporate loves so much.
Whatever the core cause, I'm antsy as hell. It's the type of antsy that might drive a gal to overhaul her own hair color at midnight using a frankensteiny combo of L'oreal boxes (test strand? Ha!) and frost-n-tip caps. An impulse that 100 percent of the time, ends in tears (followed by a $200 fix-it appointment). Why do we (OK me) do things like change our hair when we really want to change our lives? I guess it's just a case of effective advertising. i.e. "Maybe if I go really blond, I'll wake up in Mexico."
So for now, it's a sit-on-my-hands-don't-do-anything-that-can't-be-undone-in-15-minutes day. Which really means staying late tonight until I've plowed through every single unfinished project that has landed on my desk recently. I know—sounds about as fun as a dirt sandwich, right? But I've promised myself that when I'm done, I'll start searching Travelocity for a cheap flight south of the border.
